Overview: On November 9th 2024, students of different ages and experieces gathered to put together “Horizons: Explore your future”, a conference about scientific careers. Dr Laurentiu Caramete was the invited speaker for talking about how a career in the Physics domain is like. He told students all about what being a scientist is actually like, how to propose space missions, how to overcome all kind of potential obstacles and so on.
“I asked 99 people (because one of them was undecided) about Physics and most of them said they didn’t like this subject in school. My purpose was simple: to find out why Physics is such a bad memory”. This is exactly how Dr. Razvan Balasov started his speech at TEDxBaneasa on 28th of September. He was invited to debunk the myths that lead most scholars to dislike Physics and to make people of all ages understand that Physics is not just something that we find everywhere around us, but also something that is actually for everyone once we overcome some barriers.
Between 30th of May and 1st of June 2024, in Timisoara took place TIM24 Physics Conference , where Dr. Laurentiu Caramete had a plenary talk entitled “From Concept to Cosmos: Designing Space Missions to Unravel the Mysteries of Astrophysics and Gravitational Waves”. Overview: On December 11, the ASPACE-Q group was invited to the seminar “Gravitational waves: the frontier of research on the cosmos. The Italian scientific and technological distribution” that took place in the framework of the second edition in Romania of the Italian National Space Day. Dr. Laurentiu Caramete, the leader of the group, gave a presentation regarding the Romanian distribution to the LISA Space Mission.

Overview: This October, dr. Laurentiu Caramete, the leader of ASPACE-Q group, was invited to give a TED Talk during TEDxBaneasa’s The Naked Truth session. He busted myths about researchers and talked about how space missions are proposed and why they are important. Hopefully, from now on, the first thing that would come to mind when referring to rocket science will not be the green big eyed creatures so many SF movies show, but the words from Laurentiu’s speech which can be watched on youtube here.
