Project 3: Advanced studies in support of space exploration with human crew and by micro-robotic means, and advanced contributions to the understanding and evaluation of planetary hazards

Core Program Name:

Advanced research on laser – plasma – radiation – space domain

Acronym: LAPLAS IV
Contract number: 4N/2016
Objective name: “Fundamental, applied research and specialized intelligence in science and space technology”

Project Title: Advanced studies in support of space exploration with human crew and by micro-robotic means, and advanced contributions to the understanding and evaluation of planetary hazards

Project 2: PN 16.47.02.03
Project director: Dr. Vlad VALEANU

Main objective: Studies associated with the identification and developing new solutions and methods for protection of humans in space and Earth communities against hazards from outer space.

Specific objectives:

  1. Countermeasures: advanced research of evaluation and training the aerospace personnel using methods based on the information management and the psycho-somatic action in biological systems.
  2. Micro-satellites: advanced research on the developing and methods of exploitation of systems and formations of small artificial satellites formation (micro and nano-satellites) as ways to explore the space using micro-robots;
  3. Planetary: advanced research on around Earth planetary medium with the complex interaction between Sun-Earth-Moon and with the threats generated by this system and in general inside the Solar system;
  4. Data: advanced research linked with advanced mathematical methods of handling, presenting and exploitation of massive data generated in experiments associated with the research directions presented above (ex. data mining, neuronal network, non-linear analysis etc); here we will investigate demonstrative models of systems hard/soft generated with the systems which are in the Institute.

Expected results:

Countermeasures: The expected results are associated in the first place with the grow of the participation of the laboratory in the optional ESA programs and acquiring the know how in the field of countermeasures and in training the astronauts. On the knowledge, the results aim to create software algorithms and methods  in the context of the dynamics of information in human bio-system.

Planetary a) şi b):

planetary R1. Numerical code for particle-in-cell (PIC) uni-dimensional multi-core electromagnetic simulation for structural and stability investigation of a tangential discontinuity.

planetary R2. Transit profile of plasma and electromagnetic field parameters along the discontinuity for different input and asymptotic parameters. Dispersion curvature diagram for different physical measurements.

planetary R3. Study on the formation and stability of the discontinuity at the interface between two plasma with macroscopic different properties.

planetary R4. Analysis program for in situ data from the solar wind which can identify the principal proprieties of the detected discontinuity detected at the site of the space missions.

planetary R5. Optimization methods of the propagation time of the discontinuities from the solar wind. Identification of the optimal computing method.

data mining:  The presented research can consolidate the optimal position that the ISS specialists presently have inside the institute in the field of IIM.

Planetary c) şi d):

Adapting the methods that use magnetic induction to the ARTEMIS pair.

Developing a simple model for magnetic anomaly and compare it with experimental data.

Measurements error analysis due to counting statistics and finite length of the spectral channels of high energy in angle in the experiment Cluster/CIS.

Data mining:

  • Application library (toolbox) allowing the run of algorithms and methods above described (§2.3), on real temporal series (Landsat8, Sentinel1, next Sentinel2);
  • We will obtain:
    • scene classification and series level,
    • evolution classes extraction,
    • object identification.
