The Institute of Space Science (ISS) in collaboration with the National Institute for Research and Development in Optoelectronics (INOE2000) and the National Institute for Aerospace Research „Elie Carafoli” (INCAS) are organising today, 3 November 2015, the workshop „Romanian projects and initiatives in support of the ESA Programme for Earth Observation”. The event is taking place in the conference room of the Romanian Atmospheric Observatory (RADO) on the Physics Magurele platform, 409 Atomistilor Street, Magurele, Ilfov.
The workshop is organised in the context of the development of Earth observation research and development activities in Romania, both in space and on the ground, particularly after the country has officially became the 19th Member State of the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2011, and after the launch of the programme for research, development and innovation STAR – a programme coordinated by the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), which provides support at the national level to implement this agreement. At the same time, the event is an opportunity to streamline communication and collaboration between the institutions with experience in this field.
The main topics that will be addressed during this event are:
- Romanian projects on research and technology development for space- and ground-based applications of Earth Observations
- The role of competence centresfor the development of this field in Romania
- Experiences, ideas and future plans, collaboration opportunities.
This workshop is an opportunity to disseminate the successes of the STAR projects in the field of Earth Observation, but also to initiate future projects.
