The Institute of Space Science (ISS) invites you to explore the solar system from home, using your computer. Using the ExpoSol program (Interactive Exploration of the Solar System) you wll be able to study the eight planets of our solar system, Pluto, the dwarf planet, and the Sun.
One can navigate through space by following some basic notions, like using the mouse cursor for orientation and „+” and „-” to adjust the speed. It is important to note that both the distances between the planets and their sizes are real – except the Sun, which is 10 times smaller for viewing reasons. The program also provides the ability to navigate to every planet in the Solar System and learn more about it through a menu available when accessing the program.
The program is available at www.spacescience.ro/exposol and was developed by Laurentiu Caramete, researcher at the Institute of Space Sciences, using the free development platform Unity 3D. ExpoSol was created for the „Scoala Altfel” activities, an event that ISS has actively participated in this year. Currently, there are options for Web, Windows and Mac, but in the future alternatives for Android and iOS might be developed.
