SLIM – Search for Light Monopoles

SLIM Experiment sensitivity
  •  SLIM consists of a large area (400 m^2) intermediate mass magnetic monopole and nuclearite detector taking data at high altitude.
  • the detector consists of multiple CR39 layers and Makrofoil interleaved with Aluminium absorbers.
  • a first set of detectors (~50 m^2) has already been removed after about 2.5 years of operation in order to test the experimental procedures.
